Premier Section Match Report - Co. Tyrone 2 - 2 Vendee
Honours even at Riada
After a slow start to the game in terms of goals and chances, it was Vendee who broke the deadlock after 20 minutes. A punt upfield was only half dealt with by the Tyrone defence, allowing Massimo Baron to rush in & volley the ball into the corner of the net, out of the reach of goalkeeper Joel Peden.
Shortly after, Daniel Courtney's cross field ball found Andy Scott in behind the full back and he let fire, but it was well saved by Vendee keeper Thibaut Cartwright.
Kilian Molle then created space and supplied an inch-perfect through ball for Thomas Teil and the striker showed a cool head to slot the ball beneath the onrushing Peden, making it 2-0 Vendee.
Vendee caught Tyrone on the counter attack after a free kick deep in Vendee territory but when Teil hit the deck after bursting through the referee felt there wasn't enough contact from Stefan O'Hare to warrant a penalty.
Half time 2-0 Vendee
Tyrone almost got themselves back in the game within five minutes of the second half starting when Daniel Courtney fizzed a dangerous free kick at goal but it was well held by Thibaut Cartwright.
Thomas Tiel got beyond the Tyrone back four again after twisting and turning on the edge of the area but just as it looked he'd seal the victory, Joel Peden stuck out his right leg to block the striker's effort.
The hard working Alex Carolan then got Tyrone back in it, and deservedly so, as the right winger bundled home Andy Scott's tenacious delivery from the left.
Arnas Irzikevecus came extremely close to a dramatic late equaliser for Tyrone when Scott's free kick deflected off the striker but it rolled just wide of the post.
Justice was done though, as far as Irzikevecus was concerned, as that dramatic late equaliser came just after. From despair to delight in minutes as he headed Tyrone a deserve equaliser into the corner.
